Letters to the INS - John Cage - composer

By the early 1970s, John Cage had achieved worldwide fame as a leader of the musical avant-garde and composer of "chance music." A decade before that, Yoko had been part of the early sixties avant-garde scene with him in lower Manhattan. Cage died in 1992.

Cage described Yoko as "an artist whose presence in New York and USA is of great cultural importance. I say this as a composer and a member of the National Institute of Arts and Letters."
